Foo Fighters remain solid as Concrete & Gold Seattle mega-rockers Foo Fighters are back with their brand new album Concrete & Gold [Sept. 15, via RCA]. The eleven tracks were produced by pop producer Greg Kurstin, which is a different route for the band. The sound of the record still remains very Foo-sounding. On the single "The Line," frontman Dave Grohl tells a story about being a satellite searching for life, while the band lays down a vintage rock backbone. The rest of the album is a solid listen all the way through. Check them out on tour as they swing through the United States with big gigs at CalJam and Voodoo Music + Arts Experience. The summer may be over, but it's a good feeling to know the iPods are refreshed with new tunes to last into the fall. The Dead Weather blaze on with Dodge and Burn |
The bad news is that the summer is officially over, but the good news is that a barrel of new tunes came rolling in at the last minute.
Stoner-rock supergroup The Dead Weather are heating up again with their new album Dodge and Burn [Sept 25, via Third Man Records]. The foursome of Jack White, Alison Mosshart, Dean Fertita, and Jack Lawrence continue to pump out a huge sound with gritty guitar riffs. On "Cop And Go" lead singer Alison Mosshart delivers with a swagger while the boys on the axes and kit lay down a steady foundation. The whole record continues on with a similar vibe and makes for a fabulous listen. As of now, no tour dates are scheduled for the group.
The joy of the summer has come and gone and it's nice to look back at all the good memories. The journey wouldn't be complete without one last soundtrack to reminisce about all the sunny adventures.

TV On The Radio plants new Seeds |
November gave out lots to be thankful for including friends, family, and football. Not to mention a feast of new music.
Brooklyn New York's indie rockers TV On The Radio are back with their latest album Seeds [November 18, via Harvest]. Heavy on synth and fuzzed out guitars, this record is smooth front to back. On the first single "Happy Idiot", frontman Tunde Adebimpe sings a tale of trying to stay sane while not trying to think about a love that got away. The band's tour kicks off in Miami then heads overseas with a big gig at Sonar Festival in Iceland.
As the cold begins to settle in, it's good to know the iPod is heated up with fresh tunes. Thanksgiving is in the rear view mirror, now it's time to put the headphones on and string up the Christmas lights.
