Monthly Mix: August 2017

Queens Of The Stone Age become Villains

The summer is winding down, but the influx of awesome new music is still going strong. August brought a bunch of sunshine, and a massive stack of fresh tunes.
California stoner-rockers Queens Of The Stone Age are back with their seventh studio album entitled Villains [August 25, via Matador]. The nine tracks were produced by Mark Ronson and are surprisingly lengthy, but pack a punch filled with crunchy guitar riffs and raucous drums. On the opening track "Feet Don't Fail Me," the band slowly builds an eerie intro and then frontman Josh Homme explodes with an in-your-face guitar riff and lyrics about growing up in the desert. The rest of the album does not disappoint and is a quality listen all the way through. Check them out as their tour romps through the United States with big stops at Riot Fest and Cal Jam Fest.
As the last few weeks of summer come to an end, it is a good feeling to know the mp3 players are reloaded and ready to go. The August Playlist makes a nice companion for the last bike ride of the summer.
