Queens Of The Stone Age become Villains The summer is winding down, but the influx of awesome new music is still going strong. August brought a bunch of sunshine, and a massive stack of fresh tunes. California stoner-rockers Queens Of The Stone Age are back with their seventh studio album entitled Villains [August 25, via Matador]. The nine tracks were produced by Mark Ronson and are surprisingly lengthy, but pack a punch filled with crunchy guitar riffs and raucous drums. On the opening track "Feet Don't Fail Me," the band slowly builds an eerie intro and then frontman Josh Homme explodes with an in-your-face guitar riff and lyrics about growing up in the desert. The rest of the album does not disappoint and is a quality listen all the way through. Check them out as their tour romps through the United States with big stops at Riot Fest and Cal Jam Fest. As the last few weeks of summer come to an end, it is a good feeling to know the mp3 players are reloaded and ready to go. The August Playlist makes a nice companion for the last bike ride of the summer. August 2017 Playlist

Bon Iver crunches the numbers on 22, A Million |
The signs of the fall have began to surface in the form of red and orange leaves, and brisk evening breezes. Signs of new music have also surfaced, and the first batch of the season does not disappoint.
Wisconsin's Bon Iver is creating a buzz with their latest album 22, A Million [September 30, via Jagjaguwar]. Frontman Justin Vernon wrote all ten tracks on the album, most of which contain various looped recording techniques. On the eerie track "10 Death/Breast" Vernon has a message as he proclaims 'love, don't fight it'. Check them out on tour as they roll through Germany, the U.S., France, and the U.K.

Foo Fighters cruise with Sonic Highways |
As the final leaves fall off the trees and Halloween comes to an end, another October is in the books. Just like the witch's brew, the pot of brand new music still burns strong.
Seattle mega-rockers Foo Fighters are back in full effect with their new album Sonic Highways [November 10, via RCA]. The band recorded the eight songs in eight different cities, with a plethora of A-list guests contributing on the tracks. Frontman Dave Grohl describes it as being much bigger and including more jams, but still sounding like the Foo Fighters. A perfect example of this is the first single "Something From Nothing" which features sharp guitar riffs, vintage Grohl lyrics, and even a funk jam. The band's tour will hit Voodoo Festival and then off to Africa and South America.
The October playlist is packed with new music and goes great with the last Kit-Kat bar.
